Managers report,
Lake Activity picking up and reminds us to be mindful of other boaters in your area and be safe.  Road repairs are continuing and storm water drainage is incorporated into the road plan.  We are researching additional grants to further improve our community.
Public Safety,
This has been a good month. We had 26 minor incidents with the majority being expired boating stickers.  Boats must have their new stickers on by May 1.

Old Business
Finance Committee Meeting-
Dave Decker reported: Ray Garber reviewed the budget with the office and we are inline with where we should be for the year as far as income & expenses.

Annual Audit
Dave Decker – We met with Scheffel & Company who and they have completed our annual audit of our financial statements and we received a good rating and clean audit.  We thank the office staff that keeps the records in good order.

2010 Road Plan
Scott Webber - Plans with Moro Township have stalled, their insurance company is concerned with liability, so any part of the road plan in relation to Moro is on hold.
We are going forward with the road plan using our crew and the normal contractors we hire.
Most of the roads we are doing this year are chip & seal with the exception of Oahu Ct.
Glenn Dalton - that whole road and cul-de-sac will be more cost effective to asphalt given its current condition.
Action: Dave Decker motions to go forward with bids for the 2010 Road Plan. Gary Kluckman seconds.  Motion carries.
Scott Weber: We are working with an engineer on the road plan to include storm water drainage.
Jim McCann: Scott, don’t we need that prior to going to set up special taxing district?
Scott Webber: yes

Annual Meeting
Scott Webber: Jim McCann & Don Austin are both traveling and will not be able to attend. Ray Garber will be acting Secretary.  We forgot to add the boating committee to the agenda as continued from last year’s meeting, so we will discuss that as well.

Lake a Polooza-
Glenn Dalton - Nothing more to report other than we are requesting they provide Port-a- Potties.  The event is scheduled to last until 7 PM,  Anything that goes on after that will not be considered part of the Lake a Polooza, just normal marina business.

New Business
Baseball Tournament Fund Grant-
Scott Webber: Major league baseball has a grant process to do a 50/50 split for improving ballparks.  We are going to look into applying for a grant.

Parking Rule- Tabled until first meeting in June.

Boating Committee- Rocky Lane (1047), Boating Rules & Regulations Committee Chairman.  Rocky LaneLast year at the annual meeting our committee was asked to look into the problem of sea wall damage and wake boats.  Our committee researched the damage done to seawalls with ballast filled ski boats; here is what the committee came up with:

  • It’s a mixed bag as whether or not security can enforce and check for the use of ballasts, two to three  heavy men sitting on the back of the boat can cause the same type of a wake as a ballast
  • Boat manufactures are making boats heavier, a possible solution is to put a weight limit on boats, NADA website has boat weights.

There are several possible solutions:

  • Boat drivers could be instructed to run their boats at idle or on a plane to reduce wave action
  • Another solution is to strengthen our seawalls; Vertical types of seawalls have a large effect on the reverberated wave action.  Rip rap is preferable.  For those with vertical wall, an addition of rip rap in front of those walls is suggested.

Scott Webber – Rocky, Thank you and you committee for working on this issue.  Please bring this with you to the annual meeting and we will present your findings.  I believe the Lake and building committee are also looking into the sea wall construction.
